The nail polisher again, really works for me this week....
last week, it already really cut a lot of my nail biting habit....
this week, it cut a little bit more than last week....
i probably just tried to bite my nails (unconsciously) about 5 times a day....
after reading the comments, i just realized that i could consider my nail polisher as my negative and positive punishment ....
it's negative because i have to taste that bitter flavor....
it's positive because it will encourage me to not bite my nails....

ReplyDeleteIt is so nice to know that operant conditining is working so well for you, and that you are not biting your nails as often any more. Probably if you keep on applaying the bad taste nail polisher for long enough you will get used to not biting your nails, and maybe in the future you will not need to use the polisher anymore.
Its nice to see that operant condition is also working for some of my classmates and not just me! good luck on keeping your nails bite free!

ReplyDeleteIt's so great that your punishment is actually effective. I think your program is really cool because the behavior that you are trying to change is unconscious, while most of ours are things we know we are doing (not exercising, not doing homework, etc).

It looks like the nail polish is working for you and don't worry we all do things that we are unconsious of sometimes but the good thing is that once you realize what your doing you stop so great job! Good luck during the next couple of weeks and again congrats on succeeding this week!
I'm glad nail polisher works for you because for me it works half the time. Pretty soon you won't need nail polisher for you not to bite your nails! Keep up the good work! =]
